Nasi Uduk
Nasi uduk is made of rice boiled in coconut milk spiced with corriander, salt and daun salam (similar to bay leave) and then steamed. the colour is not as white as ordinary steam rice, but the taste and the smell is really inviting. Usually nasi uduk is served with fried chicken, empal or bacem and garnished with sliced cucumber and daun kemangi (a kind of parsley with certain aromatic smell).

Asinan Betawi
The word asinan comes from asin, that means salty. This is due to the dressing which has a mixed taste of salty, sweet and chilli hot. Asinan Betawi contains lettuce, fried tofu, fried pottato and sliced cucumber. It is said that having it while you suffer from cold, will help to unblock your stuffy nose.

Kerak telor
This Betawi snack for had seemed to disappear a while back and could only be found during the Jakarta Fair. But today many food courts have included it in their menu. Kerak telor is made of overnight-soaked rice mixed in beaten egg and then fried in the shape of omelette, which in then stuffed with a spoon of spicy dry-fried shredded coconut and folded.

Ketoprak
Ketoprak is usually had for breakfast and sold by cart vendors. The sound they make is by beating a plate with a spoon. Ketoprak peanut sauce smiliar to gado-gado. Soybean sauce and rice crackers is added on top.
